“Ink About It inspires ‘tweens to write, draw, and reflect on
serious issues. From helping set goals to discovering the
difference between ‘assertive’ and ‘aggressive,’ this gorgeously
designed, interactive book takes kids on a journey of
self-discovery that will foster their emotional growth during the
sensitive period of pre-adolescence.”
~ Joan Cole Duffell, Executive Director, Committee for Children
“Ben joined our group as a 12 year-old who had no adjectives, no
way to communicate his thoughts or feelings. But with Ink About It,
Ben literally began to decorate his language. Ben couldn’t express
the helplessness, frustration, and anger he’d felt in words after
he had been beaten up at school, but he sighed in relief as he
finished his art piece, saying, ‘I feel better.’ Even though it’s
been two years since he joined my group, his mother begged me not
to stop the Ink About It group because he’s so much happier.”
~ Dena, Therapist, Sound Mental Health, Auburn, WA

The content is based on a blend of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, and art therapy. But these therapies are not readily apparent to the adolescents because of the engaging artwork contained in the book.
